This article will provide instructions on how to set up the BLE Micro-Spot Relay.
Step 1: Identify the Device
Take note of the BLE MAC address printed on the device, as it is useful for setup and maintenance. This code consists of twelve letters and digits, for example f633a04c23a1
. Depending on the context it may also be formatted in traditional MAC address notation with capital letters and colons, e.g. F6:33:A0:4C:23:A1
.
After the device has been powered at least once nearby a BLE-enabled Smartspot, it will have an item representation in the Brain, with technology bluetooth
, type relay
and its MAC address as item code. It may be useful to look up the item by code in the Item Editor and assign a label for future reference.
Step 2: Pair the Device
The device needs to be paired to a compatible Smartspot. See Pairing with Smartspot.
Step 3: Assign a Location
When the Smartspot is connected to a Brain, paired devices will show up as (virtual) antennas in the Location Editor and can be assigned to a new or existing location.
Step 4: Configure the Device
It may be desirable to change settings on the device, e.g. to select what type of antenna it should use. The Micro spot BLE relay can be configured through the smart item configuration system. See How to Change Smart Item settings.
Advanced settings can only be changed through the device's item object on the Brain Web API.
